Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Fighters Group

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in strength within the city.

Note: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Soldiers Table Introduced

The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of heroes who will split off from the main group to undertake their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.

The combat-focused team features Teor (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

With an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are rare.

Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem out of place, but the developments of episode 3 show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the group understands precisely where to proceed after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.

A former ally of the deceased character—whose death started the story’s plot—manipulated the enemy for his own means, breaking into the secret base, attacking Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.

The antagonist then settled his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, wants revenge.
  • Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a hostile location.
  • The strong character and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the team access areas they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, Teor vowed a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:

  • The rogue and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.

This means them no alternative but to head to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.

Upcoming Developments

According to the latest episode’s follow-up content, we find out that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight participants to round up the Questers and Schemers parties.

Audiences can expect learning which characters will be assigned to which table in the story’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on next week.
